Dr Andy Lee is currently the Director for New Business & Digital in the Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC) of the Agency for Science, Technology And Research (A*STAR).
Prior to this, Andy worked and managed in various industries ranging from agro-biotech, contract manufacturing, to food & beverage. Andy was trained as a nano-ceramics composite materials scientist with a Ph.D. from the University of Sydney, Australia.

A*STAR's Horizontal Technology Programme Offices develop R&D strategies in four key areas, offering solutions to address national challenges: "Urban and Green", "Artificial Intelligence, Analytics and Informatics", "Health and Medical Technologies", as well as "Agritech and Aquaculture". Robotics Horizontal Technology Programme Office (HTPO) was setup as a hub to lead and coordinate A*STAR activities in the areas of robotics and automation across industry / public sectors.
During the 15 years with Kennametal I held different positions within the Technology Organization linked to new product / process development. My career started with developing and successfully launching several solid carbide drilling products. After 7 years in product engineering I transferred into the Grade Development Team and relocated from European Technology Headquarter in Germany to Corporate Headquarter in Latrobe, PA (USA). Withing Grade Development I was responsible for round tool cutting grades for 4 years before taking over managing responsibility for the team. Grade Development consists of 8 engineers with main task to manage the company’s metalcutting materials portfolio and to develop new materials solution supporting our customers solving their machining needs.
